Rantoul has a strong Neighborhood Watch program that is featured annually with outstanding participation in National Night Out. In 2004, Rantoul was one of 35 communities recognized for outstanding participation in the National Night Out events.

** National Night Out 2009 **

The Village of Rantoul observed the 26th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, towns, villages and neighborhoods across the country celebrate National Night Out with a variety of events and activities, such as:

• block parties
• cookouts
• visits from police and public safety
• parades and exhibits
• flashlight walks
• contests and games, for both youth and adults
