Rantoul Blood Donor Center
The Recreation Building also houses the Rantoul Blood Donor Center. The facility is operated by the Community Blood Services of Illinois (CBSI). Next time you are in the Recreation Building to register for a meeting or program, schedule your day so you can donate blood.
Importance of Blood Donors
Why are blood donors so important? Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body, and carries carbon dioxide and other waste products back to the lungs, kidneys, and liver for disposal. It fights against infection and helps heal wounds, so we can stay healthy.
There's no substitute for blood. If people lose blood from surgery or an injury or if their bodies can't produce enough, there is only one place to turn - volunteer blood donors.
Memberships / Partnerships
For over 25 years, CBSI has served as the link between blood donors and patients in east central Illinois. We are licensed and regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and hold memberships in the America's Blood Centers, the American Association of Blood Banks, and participate in the National Marrow Donor Program.
If you are interested in donating, you can call (217) 367-2202 to make an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome. The Rantoul Blood Donor Center is open on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from noon until 5:15 pm.
