The Village of Rantoul is accepting
applications for an Apprentice Lineman
or Journeyman Lineman position. Under
supervision, an apprentice lineman trains
for the position of an electric division
lineman by learning and practicing specific
job skills through a four year training
program. Applicants must be able to
climb utility poles, and perform various
types of underground and overhead electric
construction. Applicants must have their
high school diploma or equivalent (GED),
must demonstrate proficiency of electrical
skills, and will have to obtain a valid
State of Illinois Class CDL Vehicle
Operator’s License within six
months of hire. Journeyman lineman applicants
must submit proof of Journeyman status.
Successful candidates must live within
four miles of Rantoul corporate limits
within six months of hire. This is a
union position with a salary range for
the Apprentice position starting at
$21.11 per hour. The Journeyman position
starts at $27.78 per hour.
