Video Updates

The video playlist on this page shows just a few of the many projects
Public Works is currently undertaking.  These videos will enable you to
see firsthand the efforts that are being taken to improve the infrastructure
and appearance of the Village.  Our new leaf vacuum allow leaves to be
picked up and disposed of more efficiently.  Additionally, paving and
construction is being done throughout the Village, as shown in this video
from E Sangamon Avenue.

Sangamon Avenue Reconstruction

Reconstruction of Sangamon Avenue is underway, with work expected to conclude at the end of September 2016.  This project includes the reconstruction of Sangamon Avenue from Marshall Street to Chanute Street.  Additionally, improvements to storm sewers and sidewalks are anticipated with the completion of this project.  This project is funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and State Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds.

Neighborhood Streets Resurfacing Project

A number of local neighborhood streets will be improved through mill and resurfacing throughout the summer and early fall.  Streets impacted by this work include portions of High Street, Garden Street, Englewood Drive, Birch Drive, Phillips Drive, Bethany Park Drive, Locust Avenue, and a stretch between Enterprise Drive and Alpers Drive.  These improvements are supported through the use of Local and State Motor Fuel Tax funds.

Shared Use Path

The second phase of the Shared Use Path will begin during the middle of September.  This project will extend the existing path from Campbell Street into the Downtown area, along with an extension into and around Rudzinski Park.  This project is funded through an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Plan (ITEP) Grant and is expected to be completed this fall.

Broadmeadow Drainage Improvement and Street Rehabilitation Project

The design of the Broadmeadow Drainage Improvements and Street Rehabilitation have been completed and bids received.  This project extends from Malsbury Drive to James Road and will enhance the limited storm water collection system in this area.  Repair and resurfacing of the roadways in the area will be completed over the length of the project.  This work will be partially funded through Local Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds.
