| Welcome to the Rantoul Police
Department Homepage. The Rantoul Police Department
exists to serve and protect the citizens of the
Village of Rantoul. The force is made up of 32
sworn officers including the chief, a deputy chief,
two lieutenants, five sergeants and 22 patrol
officers. The Police Department also operates
a 24 hour a day - 7 day a week dispatch center
that handles dispatching of police, ambulance
and fire calls.
In addition to normal police activities,
the Department also handles motorist assists,
the neighborhood watch programs and many public
assistance types of activities.
Another program that the Police
Department operates is the Citizen
Police Academy. This program is operated in
cooperation with Champaign County Sheriff's Office,
the University of Illinois Police Department,
the Urbana Police Department, the Champaign Police
Department, the Mahomet Police Department, and
District 10 of the Illinois State Police, the
Police Training Institute is offering the Champaign
County Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police
Academy is an educational and informative program
that allows citizens the opportunity to learn
about the issues that face law enforcement efforts
in Champaign County. The goals of the citizen
academy are:
1. to provide stronger citizen/police
relationships
2. to enhance lines of communication; and
3. the reduction of crime in our community
This program helps citizens to better
understand the daily operations of the Police
Department, the decision making process, problems
that Police face as well as many other aspects
of the department. This program is a valuable
tool for interested citizens of the Village of
Rantoul. |
