Both vehicles were purchased through the State of Illinois bid process. Although the two vehicles, when purchased fully equipped and ready for patrol, totaled $67,000, only a portion of that total was paid for with local funding. In fact, $25,000 was paid for with federal grant funding and $26,000 was paid for with money that the members of the Rantoul Police Department seized from drug dealers. We at the Rantoul Police Department constantly strive to provide excellent police service to our community by providing professional trained staff, quality equipment and tools for our staff to perform their jobs in a safe and effective manner, all while remaining fiscally prudent.
