Do I need a permit to put up a fence?
Yes. Please fill out a Miscellaneous Building Permit Application form and submit it to the Building Inspection Department. If you have further questions, please contact us at (217) 892-6826.

Will the Village locate my property line?
Illinois law prevents the Village from locating your property line. You will
need to hire a licensed Land Surveyor.

Can I have chickens or other farm animals as pets in Rantoul?
No. Pursuant to Village Code (see link below), is is unlawful for any person to be an owner of any farm animal within the Village of Rantoul. If any farm animal is discovered to be within the Village, then they will be impounded by any police officer or animal control officer.
