Does the police department respond to accidents on private property?
The police department does not investigate crashes on private property, such as parking lots, unless certain circumstances exist. A police officer will respond and conduct an investigation on private property when any of the following circumstances exist:
  • There is an injury to anyone involved in the crash.
  • Any driver is under the influence.
  • The crash is a hit-and-run.
  • Any driver does not possess proof of valid insurance.
  • A reckless driving offense occurred.

This form is intended to help you obtain necessary information about the other parties involved in a non-injury accident on private property in which less than $1,500 damage occurred.
